Movers & Co provides professionally managed storage services in Lancaster, PA for households and businesses that need a safe place for their belongings between one address and the next. The same crew that packs and loads your items is the crew that stores them and brings them back. Nothing is handed to a third party at any point.

Poor storage costs people money. Items get scratched, boxes get crushed, and nobody can say who touched what. Our storage runs alongside our residential moving and commercial moving services, so one team stays accountable from the first box to the last.

Why Lancaster Families and Businesses Store With Movers & Co

Accountability

One crew, start to finish

The crew that wraps your dining table is the crew that carries it into storage and the crew that brings it back. No day laborers, no third-party subcontractors. Every team member is a full employee who has passed a background check, so there is one standard of care and one name on the job.

Reputation

Referred by local agents

Lancaster County real estate agents, property managers, and past customers send us repeat work. That only happens when crews arrive on time, communicate through the day, and hand back belongings in the condition they collected them.

Pricing

A written estimate, no hidden fees

Your storage price is written down before we lift anything, covering the crew, the truck, the materials, and the agreed storage period. No surprise line items for stairs, long carries, or basic equipment when the invoice arrives.

When Storage Is the Right Call in Lancaster

Most people do not plan for storage. It becomes the answer when dates stop lining up. Tap the situation that matches yours.

1

The settlement date moved

The most common reason in Lancaster County. Your closing shifts and suddenly a full house needs somewhere to live for two weeks.

2

Renovation in progress

Kitchen work, floor refinishing, or restoring an older home downtown or in the Lititz historic district. Rooms have to be cleared to be worked in.

3

Downsizing

Moving to a smaller home, an apartment, or a retirement community, and not ready to make final decisions about everything you own.

4

Moving out of state

You are leaving before the new place is ready, so belongings need to be held and delivered in stages.

5

Selling the house

Clearing furniture out so rooms photograph better and show larger to buyers.

6

Office move or fit-out

Furniture, records, and equipment need a home while the new space is finished, without shutting the business down.

7

Estate or family transition

Decisions take time, and time is exactly what storage buys you.

8

Seasonal items

Patio furniture, equipment, and seasonal stock that should not spend the winter in a damp garage.

Our Storage Options in Lancaster, PA

Best for a 1 to 2 night gap

Overnight on-truck storage

Your belongings stay packed and secured on our truck overnight, then go straight into your new home the next day. Nothing gets unloaded, restacked, and reloaded, which is exactly where most damage happens. The fastest and cheapest option when the gap is short.

Best for days to weeks

Short-term storage

Covers local moves, home projects, and settlement delays. Safe holding of furniture and household items, organized tracking so individual pieces stay easy to find, and scheduling that lines up with your local move instead of working against it.

Best for months or longer

Long-term storage

Built for duration, not for a single truck ride. Furniture, appliances, and valuables are wrapped for extended storage, placed with spacing so weight never rests on anything fragile, and logged so we can pull specific items without unpacking the whole load.

Homes and apartments

Residential storage

Used across Lancaster County during moves, renovations, downsizing, and family transitions. We handle the packing, wrapping, transport, and return, and it pairs with our full-service or labor only options so you pay for the parts you need.

Offices and retail

Commercial and business storage

Furniture, equipment, records, and inventory held during relocations, renovations, and seasonal swings, with one coordinator owning the account from pickup to return.

High-value items

Specialty item storage

Some items should never sit in a rented unit. Pianos, gun safes, antiques, and artwork get the right equipment, the right crew size, and padding suited to the item.

Which Storage Option Fits Your Situation

Your situation What we recommend Typical length
Gap of one or two nights between homes Overnight on-truck storage 1 to 2 nights
Settlement pushed back Short-term storage 1 to 4 weeks
Renovation or floor refinishing Short-term, or long-term for a full remodel 2 weeks to 3 months
Moving out of state, new home not ready Long-term with staged delivery 1 month or more
Downsizing and still deciding Long-term residential storage 3 months or more
Office relocation or fit-out Commercial storage Project length
Piano, safe, artwork, or antiques Specialty item storage Any length

Still not sure? Tell us your dates on the phone and we will point you at the cheapest option that still protects your belongings, even if that turns out to be no storage at all.

What Is Included With Every Storage Job

Storage with a moving company should cover more than four walls. Every storage job in Lancaster includes all seven of these.

Loading and unloading

Our crew loads at your property and unloads into storage, then reverses it on return day. You are not renting a truck or lifting anything.

Wrapping and materials

Pads, shrink wrap, and boxes for the items that need them, applied before anything leaves the property.

Disassembly and reassembly

Beds, tables, and shelving come apart for safe storage and go back together at delivery.

Itemized inventory

A written list of what went in, so retrieving one item never turns into a search.

A dedicated coordinator

One person who knows your dates, your inventory, and your access details, and who actually answers.

Transport both ways

Gas, tolls, and mileage are accounted for up front, not added afterwards.

Scheduled return delivery

You pick the date. We deliver, place items room by room, and reassemble. No second company to hire.

Need professional packing added on? We can pack the whole home or just the fragile rooms. Ask about financing if you would rather spread the cost.

  • Free video survey or in-home estimateWalk us through the rooms on your phone, or have us stop by. Either way you get a price in writing.
  • Inventory and planWe list your items, calculate the space needed, and lock in the storage period and the return date.
  • Schedule pickupChoose a date and arrival window, including evenings and weekends for business jobs.
  • Packing and loadingWe wrap, label, disassemble what needs it, and load with the return trip already planned.
  • Secure storageItems go into a controlled access facility with proper spacing, logged against your inventory list.
  • Return deliveryOn your chosen date we deliver, check against the inventory, place everything in the right rooms, and reassemble the furniture.

How We Keep Your Belongings Secure

Security is the entire reason to pay for managed storage instead of a rented unit with a padlock on it.

What protects your items

  • Controlled access facilities, so only authorized staff handle stored goods
  • Trained, background-checked employees at every stage
  • Protective wrapping applied for the storage period, not just the truck ride
  • Spacing and weight distribution planned when items are placed
  • Careful loading and unloading on both ends

Storage risks we design out

  • Crushed boxes from heavy items stacked on light ones
  • Mystery cartons nobody can identify months later
  • Moisture damage from items stored damp or unwrapped
  • Furniture legs and corners chipped in a shared loading bay
  • Weeks of back and forth about who handled what

Storing artwork, electronics, a piano, or antiques? Raise it during the estimate so we can confirm the right conditions before anything is picked up.

What Affects the Cost of Storage in Lancaster

Storage pricing is not one flat number, and any company that quotes one over the phone without asking questions is guessing. Here is what actually moves your price.

What pushes the price up

  • More volume, which usually tracks with home size
  • Stairs, elevators, long carries, and downtown parking restrictions
  • Full-service packing and a high count of fragile items
  • Specialty items needing extra crew and equipment
  • Staged deliveries or several partial retrievals
  • Weekend and month-end dates

What brings the price down

  • Committing to a longer period, which lowers the monthly rate
  • Packing non-fragile boxes yourself before pickup
  • Decluttering first, so you are not paying to store what you will donate
  • A mid-month or midweek date
  • One clean return delivery instead of several trips

Local moves in Lancaster County are billed hourly with a minimum, and storage is quoted alongside it. The fastest route to a real number is a video survey: you walk the rooms on your phone, we see the actual items, and you get a price you can hold us to.

Managed Storage vs Renting a Self-Storage Unit

Doing it yourself looks cheaper until you count the truck rental, the fuel, the materials, the help you have to find, and two extra days of your own labor on both ends.

What matters Movers & Co storage Self-storage unit
Who does the lifting Our crew, twice You, or help you hire separately
Truck, dollies, and pads Included Rented and paid for separately
Who wraps the furniture The crew, before it leaves your door You, the night before
If something breaks One licensed, insured company Usually nobody
Your time One phone call and two scheduled dates Two full weekends, minimum

Already have a unit and only need the muscle? Our labor only service covers the loading and unloading without the storage.

Storage for Lancaster Businesses

Lancaster businesses lose money to downtime, not to moving costs. Commercial storage is built to keep you operating while the change happens.

Office furniture and equipment

Workstations, desks, and conference room fit-out held through a relocation or refresh.

Documents and records

Files stored organized and retrievable, not boxed at random.

Inventory and merchandise

Stock held through seasonal swings and floor resets.

Trade show materials

Displays, booths, and signage stored between events.

Tools and fixtures

Equipment and fixtures held during a renovation or build-out.

Staged return

Departments come back online in the order you choose, not all at once.

Pickups and deliveries run after hours and on weekends. Pair it with commercial moving and a single team handles the whole project.

Your Pre-Storage Checklist

A little preparation protects your belongings and shortens the crew time you pay for. Five things worth doing before pickup day.

  • Clean and dry everything. Wipe down furniture and appliances and make sure nothing goes in damp. Moisture is what causes odors and mildew.
  • Empty appliances and defrost the freezer. At least 24 hours ahead, so nothing sits in standing water.
  • Label boxes by room and contents. Clear labels are what make a partial retrieval quick instead of a half-day search.
  • Photograph valuable items. A quick photo of condition before pickup gives both of us a clear record.
  • Set aside what cannot be stored. See the list below and keep those items with you.

What cannot go into storage

  • Perishable food and open pantry items
  • Plants and live animals
  • Paint, propane, gasoline, aerosols, and other flammables
  • Medications, cash, jewelry, and critical documents, which should stay with you

Would rather not deal with any of it? Our crew handles the cleaning prep, disassembly, wrapping, and labeling as part of the job. Just say so during your estimate.

Storage Services FAQ

Can I access my items while they are in storage?

Yes. Because the facility is controlled access, retrieval is scheduled rather than walk-in. Give your coordinator notice and we will pull the items you need using your inventory list, or deliver them to you.

How is my property valued if something is damaged in storage?

Valuation is set out in your paperwork before anything is picked up, and your coordinator will walk you through the options in plain language. If you own a piece worth declaring separately, tell us at the estimate rather than on pickup day.

Do you offer climate-controlled storage in Lancaster?

Conditions vary by facility and by the length of storage. If you are storing artwork, electronics, a piano, antiques, or anything else sensitive to temperature and humidity, raise it during your estimate and we will confirm exactly what we can provide before you commit.

Is there a minimum storage period?

Overnight on-truck storage is billed for the nights you use. Facility storage runs on a monthly basis, so a stay of a few days and a stay of three weeks can price the same. Ask your coordinator to compare both before you decide.

Can I add items or take some out after storage starts?

Yes, with notice. Additions are easiest when they arrive on a scheduled visit rather than turning up separately, and removals are logged against your inventory so the list stays accurate.

Do I need to be there for pickup and delivery?

Someone authorized should be present at both ends to confirm the inventory and point us at the right rooms. If you cannot be there yourself, name the person in advance and we will deal with them directly.

What if my dates change after I book?

Tell us as early as you can and we will move the pickup or the return. Dates shift constantly in Lancaster County closings, so it is a normal request, not a problem. Peak months from May through September have less slack, which is why we ask for two to four weeks of notice on the original booking.

How far in advance should I book storage?

Two to four weeks is comfortable, and more during peak season when month-end dates fill first. For urgent situations we often have availability inside 48 to 72 hours, so call and ask.
